Meliá Hotels International has appointed Javier Gimeno, a hospitality veteran with three decades of experience, as the general manager of the new Meliá Pattaya Hotel.

The 234-room property, featuring expansive sea views, is set to open in the first quarter of 2025 in Pattaya, Thailand, just a short drive from Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand’s east coast.

Gimeno joins Meliá Pattaya after a decade in senior management roles with Marriott International, most recently serving as cluster general manager at the Marriott & Four Points by Sheraton Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Centre in China.

His career began in the 1990s in Spain, and he has since worked in locations including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and The Philippines.

Gimeno expressed enthusiasm about the new role, stating, “My team and I are looking forward to unveiling this flagship Meliá Hotels International hotel underscored by Meliá’s warm Spanish hospitality, distinctive passion for service and focus on the customer’s wellbeing.”

The Meliá Pattaya Hotel will offer a variety of amenities for both leisure and business travellers, including a rooftop restaurant with a sky bar, beach club, executive lounge, YHI Spa, Kidsdom kids club, swimming pool, ballroom, and versatile meeting spaces.
